I was talking with my father and decided to record his war stories. He was conscripted into the army because they wouldn't let him volunteer (go figure). He was initially defending Melbourne as an anti-aircraft gunner and eventually went to New Guinea as a radar instructor. Dad is 83 (or 84) years old and he is still articulate as he re-tells the story. I was testing out my new e-bay sony stereo uni-directional microphone and I am very happy with it. All up this goes for about 33 mins. I think the file is a little bigger than it needs to be so I need to check my sampling rate.

This is a podcast from the car travelling back from Brisbane to Armidale. The Seafood shop in Warwick is closed and I am a bit sad about that. I rave on a bit about ANZAC day and Australia's involvement in Vietnam. A couple pass me in an old EK Ute with a just married sign on it. I am recording using my sony lapel microphone and it sounds a bit tinny. I used soundsoap to get rid of a lot of the car noise but it makes my voice a bit "off" (more "off" than normal in any case)

Keystone Studios - Allan Heeney and Lindsay Teychenne in Keystone Studio discussing all things to do with mixing and recording. I have known Allan For about 9 years but I don’t see him all that often. Allan and his partner Jenny join Sandra and I every June long weeked (Queen’s Birthday I think) for a trip away somewhere. Last year we went to umm... (I forget - somewhere north of Newcastle -lovely spot- memorable name). Allan has a small recording studio at the back of his house and he creates CDs for friends and others who need a “cheap studio. Allan really is a lovely guy, real friend of all the world and is a talented musician in his own right belonging to one of Armidale’s most popular bands Maxwell Street. He built his own studio so that he could record his own music and now it is available for others. Unfortunately, as life would have it, there is not a lot of money in owning a recording studio so he gets his income being a relief school teacher for around the area. I haven’t seen him in action of course but I think he would be a great school teacher. I have asked him to put some of his music up on the podsafe music network. I seems keen, we just have to sort out a few things first.

Australia Day Ceremony in Tamworth. Citizenship ceremony, Award of Citizen of the year, Young citizen of the year and Mitchell Brady Encouragement Award, Recorded on my iRiver. As I knew some people, it was a bit teary at times. There is some wonderful talent and people with committment to good works who ask for no money and it is really heartening. The Tamworth Mayor James Treloar gave a speech at the citizenship ceremony to say there is no waiting in queue, that now matter how recently you have become an Australian, you have the same entitlements as everone else.
